Describe your bike
A few questions, one per screen. Each one explains how to check the answer on your own bike, and “I don’t know” picks the most common answer for you.
Look for a battery and a motor. The battery is a removable block bolted to the down tube or sitting on the rear rack, or a noticeably fat down tube with a key lock. The motor is a bulky housing around the crank axle, or a rear hub much larger than usual with a cable coming out of it. None of that, and the bike is muscle-powered.
Brakes, drivetrain, wheels, pedals: the questions rebuild your bike, even if you do not know a single brand name.

Intermediate · 30 minutes
Degrease, dry and lube the chain so it shifts quietly and lasts twice as long. Do it again every few hundred kilometres.
