Otherwise: Multi-tool
Steel ruler
Otherwise: Tape measure
Step 2Set the cleat fore and aft
Find the bump at the base of your big toe and mark its position on the side of the shoe. Loosen the cleat bolts with the Allen keys (or else Multi-tool) and slide the cleat so its centre sits under that mark, or a few millimetres behind it, measured with a Steel ruler (or else Tape measure).
Set both shoes the same way, tighten firmly, then check the angle: your heel must touch neither the crank nor the chainstay.
