Safety

  • Switch the system off and remove the battery before washing the bike. Never submerge the battery or the motor, and never use a pressure washer.
  • A battery that has been dropped, is cracked or swollen, or gets hot must not be charged or used again. Store it away from anything flammable and have it checked.

Tools you need

  • Brush

    Otherwise: Clean rags

  • Clean rags

Step 2Wash without a strong jet

With the battery out and the system off, wash the bike with a sponge and warm soapy water, or a gentle hose. Never aim water at the motor, the display, the connectors or the battery housing, and never use a pressure washer, which forces water past the seals.

Clean the battery contacts dry, with a small paintbrush or a Brush (or else Clean rags), then dry the whole bike with Clean rags before refitting the battery.

  • Check

Check an e-bike battery and motor

Battery condition and mounting, clean contacts, motor noises, speed sensor and error codes — an outside check of the assist system, without ever opening it.
