Step 2Undo the cassette lockring
Lay the wheel flat, cassette side up, and remove the quick-release skewer. Fit the Cassette lockring tool into the splines of the lockring and put the Adjustable wrench (or else Pliers) on it. Wrap the chain of the Chain whip around a large cog, in the direction that stops the cassette turning anticlockwise.
Hold the whip firmly and push the wrench anticlockwise: the lockring lets go with a loud crack, which is normal. Remove it, then slide the cogs off the freehub body, keeping their spacers in order.
