This guide is still being written: only the main steps are described for now.

Safety

  • Never exceed the tyre's or the rim's maximum pressure to seat the beads: no more than 5 bar on a hookless rim.

Tools you need

  • Tyre levers

  • Floor pump with gauge

    Otherwise: Mini pump

  • Valve core tool

    Otherwise: Pliers

  • Sealant injector

  • Clean rags

Step 4Add the sealant

The cleanest way to add sealant is through the valve. Deflate the tyre fully, turn the wheel so the valve is at the top, then remove the core with the Valve core tool (or else Pliers). Wait a few seconds for any sealant already inside to run down.

Inject the amount given on the bottle with the Sealant injector, according to the tyre width: a mountain bike tyre needs far more than a road tyre. Screw the core back in, pump up, then spin and shake the wheel in every direction to spread the liquid over the whole inside surface.

  • Check

    Check wheels and tyres

Tyre wear, pressure that holds, tubeless sealant, buckled wheels, hub play and axle security — everything that connects you to the ground.

  • Replace

Replace an inner tube or a tyre

Take the wheel out, remove the tyre with two tyre levers, find what caused the puncture, refit tube and tyre without pinching, and pump back up. The repair everyone should know at the roadside.
