Isopropyl alcohol
Step 1Remove the worn grips
Lock-on grips come off easily: undo the small bolt on each clamp with the Allen keys (or else Multi-tool), then twist the grip off. For plain push-on grips, slide the blade of a Flat screwdriver (or else Multi-tool) under the inner edge, without scratching the bar.
Pour a little isopropyl alcohol into the gap and twist the grip: it slides off. The alcohol evaporates within minutes without leaving a greasy film, and can also help you slide the new grips on. Remove the shifters first if they are in the way.
